Highlights Of Laos & Cambodia – duration: 11 days / 10 Nights

DAY 1: LUANG PRABANG

Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel for a three night stay. In the afternoon, visit the ancient temple, Wat Visoun and the beautiful Vat Xieng Thong temple. For city and river views, climb Phousy Hill.

DAY 2: LUANG PRABANG

Early this morning, watch monks take part in the ritual of Tagbat, during which they walk around the city collecting their alms, then you will visit a local fresh food market. After breakfast, marvel at the treasures held in the Royal Palace Museum (closed on Tuesdays) and take a boat cruise on the Mekong River, visiting the Buddha caves of Tham Ting and Tham Phoum. On the return to Luang Prabang, stop at Ban Xang Khong village, famous for its traditional production of Saa Paper, and Hmong market.

DAY 3: LUANG PRABANG

This morning, drive to the local Hmong Village (approx. 20 minutes) and visit the Kuang Si Waterfalls. Swim in the nearby clear pools before a picnic lunch close to the falls. This afternoon, visit the village Ban Thapene where you may be able to watch the village men weaving baskets. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

DAY 4: LUANG PRABANG - VIENTIANE

Spend the morning at leisure before transferring to the airport for your flight to Vientiane, Laos' capital city, for a two night stay. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel where you will spend two nights.

DAY 5: VIENTIANE

A full day exploration of Vientiane visiting Wat Sisaket, Vientiane’s oldest temple and Wat Phra Keo, the former royal temple that is now a Buddhist museum. Explore the flawless golden Pha That Luang stupa, which is Laos’ most revered shrine and a symbol of both Buddhist religion and Laos sovereignty. This evening, perhaps walk along the banks of the Mekong River at sunset.

DAY 6: VIENTIANE - SIEM REAP

Fly to Siem Reap in Cambodia and transfer to the hotel for a three night stay. Visit the Angkor National Museum which features artefacts and interactive displays on the Khmer Kingdom between 11 and 14 BC. Witness a beautiful sunset (conditions permitting) over the Kraven, Sras Srang, Banteay Kdei and Pre Rup temples.

DAY 7: SIEM REAP

Today you will spend a full day at the Angkor temples travelling by environmentally friendly battery-powered car. Begin at the South Gate of Angkor Thom and then proceed to the Bayon, Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace and the Leper King Terrace throughout the morning. Spend the afternoon at iconic Angkor Wat until the sun sets. Overnight in Siem Reap.

DAY 8: SIEM REAP

Following breakfast, visit the red sandstone temple Banteay Srei, which was built in the 10th Century and the 12th Century Banteay Samre temple. This afternoon, you will continue your exploration of temple sites witnessing Ta Prohm, Preah Khan and Neak Pean. This evening, there is an optional visit to the Cambodian Circus.

DAY 9: SIEM REAP - PHNOM PENH

Today, drive to Phnom Penh via the UNESCO-listed pre-Angkorian temple complex of Sambor Prei Kuk located in the Cambodian province of Kampong Thom. Upon arrival in the Cambodian capital city Phnom Penh, transfer to the hotel for a two night stay.

DAY 10: PHNOM PENH

This morning, enjoy a city cyclo tour on which you will visit the Silver Pagoda, the Royal Palace and the 14th Century Buddhist temple Wat Phnom. Later, visit the sombre yet captivating Toul Sleng Museum and Killing Fields. Your final evening in Cambodia is spent on a delightful Mekong sunset cruise including a farewell dinner.

DAY 11: PHNOM PENH

Spend the morning at the National Museum and the Apsara Art Association dance school learning about the fascinating Khmer culture. Later explore the city on a half day tour before transferring to the airport for your flight back home with happy memories of your journey.
