Take the enchanting and fascinating voyage across mysterious Russia, connecting east and west from Moscow over the Urals, across the magnificent and endless steppe and alongside the shore of the largest freshwater lake in the world to the mysterious city of Vladivostok.

Day 1: Moscow

Arrive in the capital city of Moscow, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Day free for you to explore the city on your own.

Day 2: Moscow

Today, you’ll board the Golden Eagle Luxury Train. Experience the grandeur of the Kremlin – the spiritual, historical and political heart of Moscow. You’ll have the chance to see the treasures of the Tsars in the Armoury Chamber, before continuing to the Red Square – an iconic symbol of Russia’s former military might. Expect extraordinary architecture such as the onion domes of St Basil’s Cathedral, the world famous GUM department store and Lenin’s tomb. On selected departures, the train will be hauled by a Russian steam locomotive for the first or last section of the journey, with a photo opportunity at Moscow Kazansky Station. Day 3: Kazan

Set on the River Volga, historic Kazan is the capital of Tatarstan. Visit the UNESCO listed Kremlin Fortress, before a private concert of the music of Feofor Chaliapin – born in Kazan. Time at leisure is available for an independent discovery of the city should you wish. Stay: Golden Eagle Luxury Train B, L, D.

Day 4: Yekaterinburg

Explore the landscape of the Ural Mountains, which creates the natural border between Europe and Asia in the city of Yekaterinburg. Disembark for a city tour of where the Romanov, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia was executed with his family by the Bolsheviks in 1918. Today the site is now a church, commemorating their memory whilst providing and insight into the turmoil of the Russian Revolution. Day 5: Novosibirsk

This modern ‘Soviet’ city is famed for its arts and science and is located in the heart of Russia on the banks of the River Ob. Visit Lenin Square and witness the imposing Opera House. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to have your photo taken with the statue of this iconic political leader. Freedom of Optional Tours include a visit to the Railways Museum, the Mineralogical Centre or the State Art Museum. Stay: Golden Eagle Luxury Train B, L, D.

Day 6: Golden Eagle Luxury Train

The perfect chance to relax and perhaps enjoy some of the many facilities available on board which include afternoon tea and cakes, on-board Russian language lessons, live musical performances and stimulating on-board talks. Stay: Golden Eagle Luxury Train B, L, D.

Day 7: Irkutsk

In the ‘Paris of Siberia’ you’ll have the chance to visit the Volkonsky House Museum – dedicated to the memory of the failed Decembrists uprising in 1825. Here, you’ll enjoy a Champagne reception and a private concert. Freedom of Optional Tours include the chance to learn to cook some traditional Russian dishes with a local chef as you prepare your own lunch or a visit to a traditional Russian Dacha (summer house) or an urban apartment for a taste of everyday life in Russia. Day 8: Lake Baikal

Today features a major highlight to the tour – Lake Baikal, which is the world’s deepest lake and holds 20 per cent of the world’s freshwater. Also known as the ‘Pearl of Siberia’, this lake is home to freshwater seal and over 50 species of fish including omul. Enjoy a lengthy journey through this region of snow capped peaks and to add to the grandeur of the day, our Golden Eagle train will be hauled by a Soviet era steam locomotive on this beautiful section of line. Weather permitting, you’ll stop in a stunning location by the lake for photographs and should you wish, you can take a swim in the ice cold waters. Continue to Listvyanka to visit the Baikal Museum and indulge in a delicious barbecue, prepared by the train’s chefs, which includes freshly smoked omul fish. Day 9: Ulan

Visit the capital of the Buryat Republic and explore its unique heritage, noticing the different faces of the Buryat people in an Old Believers’ Village. Learn of the Old Believers’ cultures before a concert featuring local folk singing. Stay: Golden Eagle Luxury Train B, L, D

Day 10: Ulan Baatar, Mongolia

Today, visit the capital of Ulan Baatar – once an enormous empire lead by Genghis Khan with sublime landscapes, nomadic people and rich cultures and history. Explore the Gandan Monastery, Sukhbaatar Square and Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. Here, you can visit a traditional Ger (Yurt) and meet a nomadic family. Optional Tours include the chance to remain in the city to visit the National Museum, Bogd Khan Winter Palace Museum and additional free time. Day 14: Vladivostok

Today you’ll depart the opulent Golden Eagle Luxury Train in the military port of Vladivostok. Located on the western shores of the Sea of Japan, this iconic city has an extreme military importance. Explore the city, a preserved WWII submarine and the iconic suspension bridge over Golden Horn Bay. A farewell gala dinner will be held to commemorate the end of your journey on board the Golden Eagle Luxury Train.
