Day 1: Anchorage
Arrive in Anchorage and make your own way to your hotel for the night.
Day 2: Anchorage to Valdez
After breakfast, board the coach and travel along one of Alaska’s scenic byways, through the Matanuska Valley to the picturesque town of Valdez at the head of Prince William Sound.
Day 3: Embark on a fascinating cruise
Valdez Embark on a fascinating cruise through the majestic Prince William Sound and explore the three-mile face of the mighty Columbia Glacier. Hope to spot wildlife including seals, sealions, sea otters and porpoises. Return to Valdez for the night.
Day 4: Valdez to Fairbanks
Today the coach travels north to Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway – the oldest of all Alaska’s routes and often considered the most scenic. Fairbanks will be your base for the next two nights.
Day 5: Fairbanks
The following morning, a sightseeing tour will introduce you to this gold-mining town. It includes a stop at the University of Alaska Museum and a cruise on the Chena River on board a classic sternwheeler.
Day 6: Fairbanks to Denali
Journey south along the Parks Highway to Denali. This afternoon is at leisure with the opportunity for optional outdoor activities (extra cost) ahead of a two night stay.
Day 7: Denali
On your second day here, travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour. Discover the beauty of this national park whose name means ‘the high one’. Keep a look out for the grizzly bears, black bears, moose, caribou and wolves that inhabit the park, along with a variety of birds. On a clear day, you can see North America’s highest peak, Mount McKinley.
Day 8: Denali to Anchorage
Your final journey on the Alaska Railroad transports you from Denali to Anchorage in a Dome Car for a further two night stay.
Day 9: Anchorage
Partake in a brief sight seeing tour of Anchorage that is included with a visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
Day 10: Anchorage
Transfer to the airport.
